Sutton United v Dagenham & Redbridge – Gander Green Lane – Buildbase FA Trophy – Saturday 3pm
Dagenham & Redbridge will be hoping that a Buildbase FA Trophy tie at Sutton United arrives as a positive distraction following a frustrating sequence of Vanarama National League performances and results.
Injuries haven’t helped the popular east London outfit. However, last weekends defeat against Maidenhead United – their seventh in eight league outings – left the Daggers sitting just four points above the relegation zone and seemingly in freefall.
Assistant manager, Terry Harris, was far from happy after their most recent setback: “We’ve conceded two goals from restarts. I keep saying, don’t keep conceding from restarts – corners, free-kicks, balls into the box – don’t concede,” he told www.daggers.co.uk.
“We obviously have a weakness there because we’ve conceded two again today.
“I’m annoyed. They (the players) know my feelings.”
Saturday’s match offers the Daggers an opportunity to avenge a 2-1 setback handed to them by Sutton at the back end of November at Victoria Road. Indeed, the relegation-haunted hosts have won only twice at Gander Green Lane in the league all season. But having won two and most recently picked up a point from a 1-1 draw at Notts County, the U’s will be in a slightly more buoyant frame of mind to that of the visitors.
Jeevesie’s prediction: Sutton United 2-0 Dagenham & Redbridge
