Sarah Taylor finished unbeaten on 43 and Leah Dobson 44* as the Northern Diamonds recorded a comfortable eight-wicket Charlotte Edwards Cup victory over the Sunrisers at Chelmsford.
The home side had Jo Gardner (42) and Katherine Speed (26) to thank as they recovered from 48/6 – Jenny Gunn taking 3/25 for the visitors’, while Phoebe Graham and Katie Levick chipped in with two apiece.
Nevertheless, chasing just 116 was never going to be an issue for the Diamonds. Taylor – well decorated during her career, notably with three World Cup winners medals – took 45 minutes and 35 balls, while Dobson faced 52 deliveries, hitting three 4s and two 6s, helping their side ease home with 22 balls to spare.
