East Suffolk Saxons 17-24 Southend Saints

SOUTHEND SAINTS continued to impress, this time recording a 24-17 victory over a spirited East Suffolk Saxons side in a match staged at Ipswich RFC.

Player of the Match, Abby Jones, crossed the line and had a hand in another Southend score. Meanwhile, there were two tries from Kassie Sparrow and one from Rebecca Davis.

Nevertheless, the Seasiders didn’t have it all their own way: “It’s great to keep winning and it was a good test for us today,” Head Coach, Paul Bach told Yellow Sport.

“We were up against a spirited Suffolk side who made it tough for us.

“We clearly struggled at times having to drop our numbers to match theirs and were unable to maintain our early momentum.

“Having led 24-5, we lost our way a little, with several changes and the strong wind having an adverse effect.”
