Stockport County v Dagenham & Redbridge – Edgeley Park – Vanarama National League – Saturday 3pm

DESPITE the culmination of their eleven-match unbeaten Vanarama National League run, Peter Taylor drew upon the positives after witnessing his Dagenham & Redbridge side slip to a 2-0 defeat against Notts County at Meadow Lane on Tuesday evening.

Goals from Regan Booty and Kristian Dennis handed Notts the points. Nevertheless, it was a decent display from the east Londoners

“I was pleased in the way we showed that we are a good team in certain patches of the game,” Taylor told www.daggers.co.uk immediately after the match in the East Midlands.

“There were certain times when I thought some players looked a touch nervous and didn’t do the things we’d normally do.

“But I was more happy than not happy. I think some of our football, at times, was terrific. Some of our play into the strikers was very good – players wanted to try to play from the back, rather than give it away.”

The former England interim boss continued: “I think we were a touch unlucky in the respect of the two good goals from them. One is a set-piece, which is a disappointing one for us, and the second goal was a great goal. In that respect, we are frustrated. But I said to the players that we are a very good team, we mustn’t drop out heads. We now have to say to ourselves that we are going to go on another good run.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s huge game with Stockport County at Edgeley Park, Taylor added: “We have another big game on Saturday at Stockport, but if we go and play like we did tonight, at Stockport we will have a chance of getting some points.

“I think there are going to be times that every team in this division have good days and bad days – good results or bad results. It is all about how you bounce back from the disappointing result. Tonight, we have had a disappointing result – it wasn’t a disappointing performance. I think there were certain areas where we could have done better. But overall, I enjoyed watching us play.”
