A SOUTHEND teenager suffered head injuries last night after allegedly being attacked by a gang armed with bottles and a metal pole.
The 17-year-old victim was riding his bike in Western Approaches, Eastwood, when he was reportedly set upon by the gang of around six teenagers.
He was hospitalised with four wounds to his head.
Essex Police believes the victim had been ‘targeted’. The force said it had recovered a knife from close to the crime scene and had also received intelligence that the attackers had wielded bottles and a metal bar.
The alleged incident occurred at around 9.40pm.
Police said officers had received information that a silver Ford Fiesta was seen driving away from the scene and that it wanted to hear from anyone who may have seen it or caught it on dash cam.
Any witnesses were asked to dial 101, ask for Southend CID and quote crime reference 42/148657/19.
