Teenager arrested after report of sexual assault in South Woodford

An arrest has been made following a report of a sexual assault in South Woodford.

At 5.00pm on Monday, October 18, a woman, aged in her 20s, was approached by a teenager at Granville Road, South Woodford who sexually assaulted her.

Despite the victim getting way, the man remained at the scene and exposed himself then began to commit an indecent act.

Officers attended and following a patrol of the area the man was located, but he fled from officers, avoiding capture.

Following local enquiries detectives identified a 16-year-old. He was arrested on Tuesday, October 19 at an address in Redbridge on suspicion of sexual assault and indecent exposure.

He was taken to an east London police station and was subsequently released on bail to return on a date in late November.
