Teenager charged with murder of Laindon man

A 16 year-old boy has been charged with murder following the death of father of four James Gibbons in Laindon.

Mr Gibbons, 34, was stabbed in Iris Mews at around 9.30pm on Sunday May 2 and died at the scene.

A post-mortem examination found he died from stab wounds.

It is believed he had been attempting to help another man at the time.

A 16 year-old boy arrested shortly after the incident has now been charged with murder and is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Friday May 7).

Detectives have also arrested a sixth person as part of their investigation.

A 13 year-old boy was arrested yesterday and has since been released on bail until May 14.

Four other teenagers had also previously been arrested.

A 15 year old and a 16 year-old girl have been told they face no further charges.

A 14 year old boy has been arrested and released on bail until May 25.

A 13 year-old boy has been released on bail in connection with an assault offence.
