Teenagers charged after knifepoint robbery in Canvey

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a teenage boy was robbed at knifepoint in Canvey.

Officers received a call from a member of the public who stopped to help the boy after he was approached by two young males at The Lakes, at around 9.45pm on Monday July 10.

They threatened the boy with a knife, before taking his mobile phone, rucksack, headphones, football kit and boots.

The victim’s phone was traced to a nearby address the following day.

A 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, both from Canvey, were arrested and have since been charged with robbery.

They appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday July 12 and were remanded until a further hearing on Friday July 14.

PC Chris Horton, officer in the case, said: “We are looking for any witnesses who were in the area of The Lakes, between Ferrymead and Denham Road, to come forward.”
