Police in Loughton are progressing an investigation into a disturbance in the town yesterday, Saturday January 18.

Officers were called to Old Station Road shortly after 5.50pm to reports of a fight involving a number of teenagers outside Sainsbury’s.

The disturbance briefly moved inside the store, and a woman in her 40s reported a hand injury at the scene after attempting to disperse the group.

Officers conducted a thorough search of the area and liaised with colleagues in British Transport Police.

Seven teenagers were stopped as a result of their initial enquiries.

A dispersal order was issued from 6.15pm last night until 2.15am this morning, Sunday January 19.

The order covered Staple’s Hill to the north, Trap’s Hill to the east, Warren Hill to the west and Valley Hill to the south, and allowed officers to move people from the area if they were at a risk of behaving anti-socially.

Police urge any witnesses to call 101 and quote the crime reference number 42/9742/20.
