Wealdstone v Dagenham & Redbridge – Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round – Grosvenor Vale Stadium – Report
Wealdstone 1-2 Dagenham & Redbridge
Dagenham & Redbridge recovered from losing Paul McCallum to a second-minute red card as well as a first-half deficit to see off Wealdstone in a well-contested Emirates FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie at the Grosvenor Vale Stadium.
McCallum received his marching orders following an incident with Wealdstone’s Alex Dyer, and the situation deteriorated further when Jay Bird – on loan from Milton Keynes Dons – beat Daggers goalkeeper, Elliot Justham to hand the hosts a seventh-minute lead.
The Daggers dug deep, despite playing a man light and after hanging in the contest they struck clinically in the final stages.
Skipper, Angelo Balanta – who had earlier been denied from the penalty spot by Wealdstone stopper, George Wickens – levelled the score three minutes frm time after profiting from Matt Robinson’s toil.
Then, with seconds remaining, Balanta snatched a late winner to send the Daggers through and the East London following wild with delight.
Dagenham & Redbridge return to Vanarama National League action on Saturday, October 23 when Southend United visit the Chigwell Construction Stadium (3pm).
