Ten-man Daggers undone at Chesterfield

Chesterfield 2-1 Dagenham & Redbridge

Dagenham & Redbridge saw their eight-match unbeaten Vanarama National League sequence brought to its conclusion as Chesterfield snatched a late winner at the Technique Stadium.

A second yellow card for Joey Jones forced the Daggers to play out the final fifteen minutes a man light, during which Danny Rowe netted from the spot to keep the Spireites on course for a play-off berth.

However, the afternoon had started brightly for Dagenham. George Saunders converted a Liam Gordon centre to hand them the lead inside half an hour.

But Rowe fired beyond Elliot Justham just before the interval – Laurence Maguire fashioning the opening. Chesterfield’s late salvo subsequently ended the Daggers slim play-off hopes.

Dagenham & Redbridge conclude their Vanarama National League campaign on Saturday, May 29 when Wrexham visit the Chigwell Construction Stadium (12:30pm).
