O’s 0-0 Hammers – Moyes – Jackett – Johnson – They said it…
Leyton Orient v West Ham United – Breyer Group Stadium – Friendly Match – Quotes
West Ham United manager, David Moyes on sending teams to Leyton Orient and Northampton Town;
“I wanted to get the senior players ninety minutes on the pitch tonight, so we were pleased get that into their legs,” he told www.whufc.com.
“There are a lot of players away just now and not back, so it’s not helping with the moment in putting strong teams out, and it was a hard game for us.
“Orient played well and we have to give them credit for the way they played, I must say. It was tough for us but good for the other team who won 2-1 tonight at Northampton. The two results were okay for us.
“We wanted to give them ninety minutes, that’s why we split them and I’m pleased that we had the chance to do that.”
Leyton Orient manager, Kenny Jackett on adding to his squad ahead of the new Sky Bet League Two season;
“We are not going to add lots and lots, to be honest with you. But there are one or two positions where we need to be brighter and more alive if we can.”
“We do feel that we gave a good account of ourselves. There’s something to build on tonight.”
West Ham United defender, Ben Johnson on enjoying pre-season training;
“I really enjoy my time off. That is really important. Really taking your time to actually enjoy with the family and enjoy that free time so you can come back fresh.
“For the two weeks prior to coming back, I was ready to go. I did all my training and I worked hard by myself. I’m just happy to be back and just enjoying it.
“That is the main thing. When you stop enjoying it is when it becomes difficult. So just trying to enjoy it as much as possible. Make sure the highs are not that high and the lows are not that low. It’s a cliche, but it’s so true.
“I’m buzzing to be back – I just want to stay fit and have as much time on the pitch as possible.”
