Three arrests after break in at shop in east Tilbury

Three men have been arrested after police were called to a shop being broken into early this morning, Friday April 9.

A witness reported seeing three men in balaclavas trying to break into the Co-Op in Princess Margaret Road, east Tilbury, at 1.30am.

Officers arrived ten minutes later and arrested two people. A third was found hiding below the till.

Two men, both aged 36 and from Tilbury, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

A 22-year-old man from Stanford-le-Hope was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of drugs.

They remain in custody for questioning.
