Three more arrests made as part of investigation into death of Basildon man assaulted in park

Detectives investigating the murder of Terry Leeks in Basildon have made three further arrests.

The 46-year old died after being assaulted in Northlands Park in the early hours of July 11.

An 18 year-old man and a 15 year-old boy, both from Basildon, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday morning (November 17).

They have both since been released under investigation.

A 19 year-old man was arrested this morning, also on suspicion of murder, and he is currently in custody.

Police are continuing to appeal for information about Mr Leeks’ death and need anyone with any information to come forward.

The independent charity Crimestoppers has also offered a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible.

Today’s arrests mean a total of 12 people have now been arrested on suspicion of murder in this case.

Four of them – a 17 year-old boy, two men aged 40 and 46, and a 42 year-old woman – are on bail or released under investigation.

Five others – two men aged 40 and 46, a 15 year-old boy, and a 14 year-old girl – have all been told they face no further action.

A 20 year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has also been told she faces no further action.
