Fran Wilson’s fifty proved insufficient as the Sunrisers slipped to a 36-run Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy defeat at Chester Boughton Hall Cricket Club.
Host Thunder posted a competitive 247/9 with opening batter Georgie Boyce hitting 91 off 117 balls, while Kate Cross contributed 43 from 47 during a 47-minute stint in the middle – Sonali Patel taking 4/40 and Mady Villiers 3/47 for the visitors.
Wilson produced the Sunrisers best moment. Her half-century came off 45 deliveries, including nine boundaries. Lissy MacLeod chipped in with 38, but the target always appeared just out of reach. Sophie Ecclestone, with 3/28 and Cross (3/49) doing the bulk of the damage to ensure Thunder returned to winning ways, while Sunrisers suffered a second successive defeat.
