Troubled Blues back under an embargo

The Vanarama National League have confirmed that troubled Southend United are again under a transfer embargo.

A concerning delay to a proposed takeover of the club by Australian businessman, Justin Rees and a local consortium has led to the league’s latest action, with their official line stating ‘non-compliance with league financial regulations.’

Southend were previously under a similar ban for more than a year. The Roots Hall Stadium clubs’ most recent winding-up petition was adjourned by the High Court for six weeks, drawing concerns over their future from worried Blues supporters.
