Troubled U’s are beaten at Crawley

Crawley Town v Colchester United – Sky Bet League Two – The People’s Pension Stadium – Report

Crawley Town 3-1 Colchester United

Colchester United remain perilously close to the foot of Sky Bet League Two after slipping to a 3-1 defeat at Crawley Town.

The U’s are now four without a victory and sit just three points above the dropzone after this latest setback.

Ashley Nadesan opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour and Joel Lynch added a second for the home side eight minutes before the interval.

Nadesan killed off any hopes of a Colchester comeback with a third, ten minutes after the restart. Freddie Sears tenth goals of the campaign came as little more than a consolation for the troubled North Essex outfit.

Colchester United return to Sky Bet League Two action on Saturday, January 8 when Rochdale visit the JobServe Community Stadium (3pm).
