Colchester United v Oldham Athletic – Sky Bet League Two – JobServe Community Stadium – Report
Colchester United 1-1 Oldham Athletic
Colchester United were reliant on a second-half own-goal from Oldham Athletic defender, Jordan Clarke but now sit only two points above theSky Bet League Two dropzone following their JobServe Community Stadium stalemate.
Despite their lowly league position, the Latics arrived in North Essex unbeaten in five matches and looking most likely to pull clear of the relegation places.
Indeed, the visitors snatched the lead Davis Keillor-Dunn fired home from close range after Carl Piergianni had nodded Nicky Adams’ free-kick across goal.
Hallam Hope passed up a glorious opportunity to put further daylight between the sides before the interval, and that ultimately proved costly when Clarke deflected a teasing centre from Noah Chilvers into his own net seven minutes after teh restart.
The U’s remain twenty-first in the table. They return to Sky Bet League Two action on Tuesday, March 1 when they face Leyton Orient at the JobServe Community Stadium (7:45pm).
