TV documentary to follow midwifery team at Basildon Hospital

Basildon Hospital is to feature in a documentary series that follows the inspiring journeys of junior and student midwives.

The documentary, called “The Real Midwives of Essex”, will provide a unique glimpse into the daily lives of these dedicated healthcare professionals ovr a nine-week filming period as they navigate the challenges and rewards of supporting women and families during childbirth.

The show will air on W and free catch-up service UKTV Play from a date yet to be announced.

Nicki Abbott, managing director of Women’s and Children’s Services at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are excited to collaborate with UKTV and Firecracker Films to celebrate our student midwives and showcase what an important and rewarding career this is. We hope the series will encourage more midwives to consider working in our hospitals.”
