Two charged after man injured in Southend High Street

A man and a woman, who were arrested within two minutes of an alleged serious assault in Southend have been charged and remanded into custody.

Officers were called to Southend High Street at around 6:20pm on Monday August 14 following reports of a man being seriously assaulted outside WH Smiths.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries, not deemed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Within two minutes of the incident being reported, officers arrested a man and a woman.

Lisa Allen, 42 of Hastings Road, Southend, has since been charged with Section 18- wounding with intent, possession of a class B drug and harassment.

Michael Darcey, 36 of Crowstone Road, Westcliff, has been charged with Section 18- wounding with intent.

They have both been remanded into custody and will next appear at Basildon Crown Court on September 13.
