Two charged after man seriously injured in Chelmsford

Officers made two swift arrests and have seen charges authorised after they were called to reports of a serious assault in Chelmsford.

Police were called shortly after 11.05pm on Friday December 1 to reports of an assault in Duke Street following an altercation between two groups.

It was reported a man had been knocked unconscious, with suspects seen to get into a vehicle before leaving the scene.

The victim remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Jamie Cooper, 25, of Pulpits Close, Hockley, and Callum Polley, 26, of St James Park, Chelmsford, have since been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and affray.

They are due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday December 4).
