Two charged after warrants targeting stolen cars

Two men have appeared in court following five warrants in the south of the county tackling stolen cars and drug-related offences.

The charges were a direct result of warrants conducted at four locations in Southend and one in Rayleigh on Wednesday April 17.

The coordinated strikes were led by officers from Op Falcon and Castle Point and Rochford Community Police Team who were supported by Operational Support Group, Stolen Vehicle Investigation Unit officers.

Billy Weighman, 27 of Victoria Avenue, Southend, appeared at Southend-on-Sea Magistrates’ Court on Thursday April 18 to answer charges of conspiring to steal motor vehicles between 2020 and 2024, possessing a weapon for the discharge of a noxious substance, possession of cannabis and being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs (heroin and crack cocaine).

Jack Whiten-Simpson, 23, of Chestnut Grove, Southend, appeared at the same court charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis.

Both men will now appear at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday May 16.

Weighman was released on conditional bail while Whiten-Simpson was remanded in custody.
