Two charged with assaulting a police officer in Southend
Two people have been charged with assaulting a police officer who suffered injuries in Southend.
Officers were called to reports of a domestic disturbance in Queen Mary Court shortly before 12.35am on Wednesday October 11.
While making an arrest, an officer suffered a concussion and facial injuries in an incident which followed.
Benjamin Sharratt, 32, of Southchurch Road, Southend, has since been charged with assault by beating, assault by beating of an emergency worker and criminal damage.
He appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday October 12, where he denied all charges.
He was remanded in custody and will face a trial at the same court on December 4.
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with assault by beating of an emergency worker.
He was released on bail until a hearing at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday November 14.
