BOWERS & PITSEA have significantly strengthened their squad with the signing of Alex Bentley and Chinedu McKenzie.
30-year-old defender, Bentley, comes in from Vanarama National South outfit, Tonbridge Angels – the player previously having represented Dagenham & Redbridge, Cray Wanderers and Hornchurch – making almost 300 appearances and establishing himself as a fans favourite during his time at Bridge Avenue.
Speaking to Yellow Sport about Bentley’s signing, Bowers boss, Rob Small. enthused: “I’ve been a big fan since coming up against him in the Hornchurch side that won the Isthmian North the year before we did.
“Alex has a professional mentality, he manages his body well with a commitment required at this level of football and provides flexibility as he is capable of playing in various positions. Having played 40-plus games at National south level last season this is a real coup.”
Powerful striker Chinedu McKenzie also arrives following a spell with Tonbridge. Previously, he made a name for himself during a successful stint with Haringey Borough. Locally, he has also turned out for Romford, Aveley, Ilford and Waltham Forest, finding the net on a frequent basis.
“Chinedu has been a serial promotion winner in recent seasons,” Small added’
“A prominent goalscorer wherever he has featured and vast experience at National League, National South and Isthmian Premier level. Despite all this, he is a humble young man whose primary motivation to join us was to be part of the next part of our journey and the project we are embarking on.”
