Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round
Billericay Town v Basildon United – The Steel Team Stadium – 3pm
Billericay Town begins life without flamboyant owner Glenn Tamplin with a huge local derby with old adversaries, Basildon United at the Steel Team Stadium, New Lodge.
The two clubs paths have not crossed in anger too much in recent seasons. However, back in the ’70s and ’80s, this was regarded as one of the biggest fixtures on the local calendar and just as was the case back then, a sizable crowd is expected at the Blues home.
Although seemingly in turmoil following the departure of manager, Harry Wheeler, and then Tamplin, Billericay will start as hot favourites against a Bees side currently sitting 17th in the BetVictor Isthmian League North table, although victories over Framlingham Town and Coggeshall Town in previous rounds suggest the new-towners are not to be underestimated’
