Darlington 1-2 Hornchurch
Hornchurch are just ninety minutes from a Buildbase FA Trophy final appearance at Wembley Stadium after shocking Vanarama National League North outfit, Darington at Blackwell Meadows.
Liam Nash gave the Urchins the lead midway through the first half, converting from close range after Remi Sutton had fashioned an opening.
However, Darlington roared back and were level in stoppage-time at the end of the half. Erico Sousa finding the net after good work from Adam Campbell.
Hornchurch withstood the hosts’ pressure after the restart and then delivered the sucker-punch.
Charlie Ruff was felled by goalkeeper Sol Brynn – Sam Higgins converted the resulting spot-kick to send Hornchurch into the last four.
Darlington’s afternoon was compounded further when Will Hatfield was sent off six minutes from time. Hornchurch advancing to the semi-final stage for the first time in their 98-year history.
