U’s complete triple signing

Colchester United have significantly strengthened their squad ahead of the forthcoming Sky Bet League Two season with the signings of Alex Newby, Sam Hornby and Emyr Huws.

Attacking midfielder, Newby arrived in North Essex on a two-year deal after leaving Rochdale.

The player made 82 appearances for the Spotland club. Speaking to www.cu-fc.com, he enthused: “I’m an attacking player, I like to dribble and be positive in possession. I like to get at teams and make things happen, getting goals and assists, and I want to be a positive player who can excite the fans.”

Goalkeeper, Hornby has made a permanent move to the U’s for an undisclosed fee following a loan with the club during the second half of the last campaign. Meanwhile, former Ipswich Town man, Huws has penned a one-year deal after appearing twelve times and helping Wayne Brown’s side away from the foot of the table last season.

“Consistency is what I’m looking for,”  the Welsh international explained.

“As a team, we want to start the season well and see what we can do. But we definitely finished the season strongly and we should be taking that into next season and aiming high.”
