Colchester United concluded their Sky Bet League Two campaign with a 2-0 victory over out of sorts Hartlepool United at Victoria Park.

The U’s took the lead in the ninth minute when John Akinde sent a left-footed strike beyond Pools stopper, Killip after Freddie Sears had fashioned an opening.

Despite the home side enjoying plenty of the ball, Colchester doubled their advantage eight minutes after the restart. Sears again the orchestrator for Chay Cooper to send a fizzing effort into the top corner of the net.

The result saw Colchester finish in fifteenth place. The club will surely hope to be involved in a push for the play-off places come this time next season.
