Notts County v Colchester United – Sky Bet League Two – Meadow Lane – Report

Notts County 1-0 Colchester United

Colchester United’s Sky Bet League Two status remains in the balance following their single-goal defeat to Notts County at Meadow Lane.

Sutton United’s 2-2 draw with Crawley Town ensured that the former remain within three points of the U’s. However, a superior goal difference coupled with a game in hand suggests that the North Essex outfit holds very much the upper hand going into the final week of the season.

The only goal of the game came nine minutes after the restart when Notts’ leading marksman, Macaulay Langstaff, bagged his twenty-eighth of the season to ensure the hosts all three points.

A single point from their final two games will ensure Colchester remain in League Two, although Sutton’s survival now hinges on the U’s losing both fixtures as well as a sizable victory for the South Londoners over fourth-placed MK Don’s at StadiumMK.

Colchester United return to Sky Bet League Two action on Tuesday, April 23, when Doncaster Rovers visit the JobServe Community Stadium (7:45pm).
