Colchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Vanarama National League Wealdstone in their final pre-season fixture, played behind closed doors at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Noah Chilvers provided a neat finish to hand Colchester an early lead – this after Miles Welch-Hayes had fashioned an opening.

But despite controlling the contest, Colchester found themselves pegged back in the final stages. Josh Umerah netting from the penalty spot for the visitors’ after Sam Cornish had felled the Wealdstone man.

Colchester United now turn their attention to the opening day of the Sky Bet League Two season where they head to Brunton Park to face Carlisle United on Saturday, August 7 (3pm).
