Sky Bet League Two outfit Colchester United have completed the signing of experienced midfielder Cole Skuse from local rivals, Ipswich Town.
Skuse has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the JobServe Community Stadium and will link up with the U’s on July 1.
The player appeared 278 times for Ipswich, this after playing a further 307 times for Bristol City, having come through the Ashton Gate clubs Academy.
Speaking to www.cu-fc.com, U’s Director of Football, Tony Humes said: “It’s fantastic for us to get Cole in and done so quickly.”
“He’s a quality midfielder that will certainly add to what we have here already, but he’s also a great role model to have around our younger players.
“His standards and professionalism will always be extremely high and that can only be good for the other lads.
“Playing the number of games he has, at the level he has, proves how good his footballing qualities are, and him being here is great for the club and can only be good for the likes of Noah Chilvers and Brendan Wirdeu to learn from.”
Meanwhile, popular defender Tom Eastman will extend his stay with the club, having agreed to a further two-year deal.
Eastman has been with Colchester for almost ten years, amassing 411 appearances during that period.
Colchester United will host Sky Bet League One outfit, Gillingham in a pre-season friendly at the JobServe Community Stadium.
The game will take place on Saturday, July 24. Further details to follow.
