U’s relegation concerns heighten as they are beaten by Barrow

Colchester United v Barrow – Sky Bet League Two – JobServe Community Stadium – Report

Colchester United 0-2 Barrow

Colchester United’s relegation concerns continued to ramp up as Barrow eased to a Sky Bet League Two victory at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Dubbed as a six-pointer ahead of kick-off, but it was the Cumbrians who moved seven points clear of the dropzone and opened up a four-point advantage over Hayden Mullins’ side who currently sit third from bottom in the table.

Debutant, Tom Dallison turned Tom Dallison’s centre into his own goal to hand Barrow the lead nine minutes after the restart. Then substitute, Josh Kay killed the contest in stoppage-time, much to the dismay of the bemused home crowd.

Freddie Sears and Luke Chambers had Colchester’s best chances – the latter hitting the frame of the goal following an Alan Judge free-kick.

Colchester United return to Sky Bet League Two action on Tuesday, January 18 when they take on Sutton United at Gander Green Lane (7:45pm).
