U’s snatch a vital point at Salford

Salford City 0-0 Colchester United

Colchester United produced a resolute performance to earn a vital point at Salford City, edging the North Essex club further clear of the Sky Bet League Two relegation zone.

The U’s claimed their second successive goalless draw but could have upset the host. Harry Pell nodded over after Callum Harriott had picked him out, while Salford stopper, Vaclav Hladky denied both Harriott and then Noah Chilvers in the latter stages.

Jason Lowe and Ibou Touray had opportunities for Salford. The point leaves Colchester eight points clear of the bottom two ahead of Saturday’s huge clash with fellow strugglers, Port Vale at teh JobServe Community Stadium (3pm).
