Highly-rated left-sided defender, Harvey Sayer, has put pen to paper on his first professional contract with Colchester United.
The youngster started out with Norwich City’s Academy, before linking up with the U’s Academy in 2017.
The following year, he would feature in an England under 15s training camp and after making swift progress with the North Essex outfit, was handed his first-team debut, coming on as a second-half substitute in Colchester’s Papa John’s Trophy tie with West ham United in September 2020.
Speaking to cu-fc.com following his debut, Sayer enthused: “I was warming up from the beginning on the second half and I got the call from the Gaffer to come back and prepare to get on.”
“I replaced Miles for the final thirty-five minutes, and I looked to show my strengths of running with the ball and crossing to create chances.
“It was a difficult game and we worked hard to try and get the result, which we couldn’t manage, unfortunately.
“It has definitely given me a taste for the first-team environment and I am determined to keep developing.”
