Colchester United 3-1 Swindon Town
COLCHESTER UNITED staged an incredible recovery to slink Sky Bet League Two leaders, Swindon Town, and hone in on the automatic promotion places.
Following a tense, goalless opening half, it was Swindon who snatched the lead when Diallang Jaiyesimi sent a left-footed strike beyond Dean Gerken to put the U’s unbeaten sequence on the line.
However, this Colchester side can count resilience as one of their start qualities. Substitute Luke Norris nodded the North Essex side level fifteen minutes from time, and they ensured a sixteenth league game without defeat when Theo Robinson added a second five minutes from time.
And Colchester completed a memorable evening for the majority amongst the 3,258 crowd when Robinson profited from Norris’s toil to add his second of the night and ninth of the campaign since initially arriving at the JobServe Community Stadium on loan from Southend United.
This victory – Colchester’s twelfth of the season – took them within three points of the top three places. They will be looking to close the gap further when they travel to the Abbey Stadium on Saturday to face Cambridge United (3pm).
