Tranmere Rovers v Colchester United – Sky Bet League Two – Prenton Park – Report

Tranmere Rovers 2-0 Colchester United

Colchester United slipped to their third defeat in four Sky Bet League Two outings at Prenton Park and now sit just three points above the relegation zone ahead of the weekends’ games.

Hosts, Tranmere Rovers dominated the contest, with Josh Hawkes and Peter Clarke netting after the break, moving the Birkenhead outfit up to fourth.

Freddie Sears and substitute, Noah Chilvers went close for the U’s. However, Shamal George proved to be the busier of the two goalkeepers, thwarting Tom Davies and Elliott Nevitt, while Davies also headed against the woodwork on what proved to be a miserable night for the North Essex side.
