Colchester United’s recent unbeaten sequence was ended by Sky Bet League Two play-off contenders, Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Ground.

Elliot Anderson, on loan from Newcastle United, conjured up the only goal of the game with a fiercely struck shot four minutes after the restart.

Colchester competed reasonably well but was unable to breach the hosts’ rearguard. Noah Chilvers and Tom Eastman the closest to a response from the North Essex outfit.

Colchester United return to Sky Bet League Two action on Monday, March 21 when Forest Green Rovers visit the JobServe Community Stadium (7:45pm).
