Colchester United v Exeter City – Sky Bet League Two – JobServe Community Stadium – Report
Colchester United 3-1 Exeter City
Colchester United left promotion-chasing Exeter City stunned as they ended their fifteen-match unbeaten Sky Bet League Two run with an impressive performance at the Jobserve Community Stadium.
The Grecians arrived in North Essex on the back of five straight league victories and despite dominating possession, Colchester defended superbly and struck ruthlessly to take the points, moving them seven points clear of the dropzone.
Sylvester Jasper opened the scoring after Luke Hannant had fashioned an opening. And it was 2-0 on the stroke of half-time when Noah Chilver arrived to volley home Cameron Coxe’s ball to the far post.
Exeter piled on the pressure after the restart, reducing the arrears when Padraig Amond pounced following a melee in the U’s goalmouth.
But the home side were not to be denied a huge and impressive three points. Armando Dobra played in Freddie Sears – the former West Ham United man lifting the ball over Exeter stopper, Cam Dawson for the U’s third of the evening.
Colchester United return to Sky Bet League two action on Friday, November 26 when Newport County visit the JobServe Community Stadium (7:45pm).
