U’s winless run continues

Colchester United 1-1 Cambridge United

Colchester United’s winless Sky Bet League Two run was extended to six matches following their 1-1 draw with promotion hopefuls Cambridge United at the JobServe Community Stadium.

The U’s picked up only their third point during that sequence thanks to Greg Taylor’s own-goal shortly after the half-hour mark.

Cambridge United – having won three of their last four and occupying third place in the table – took an early lead when Harvey Knibbs profited after U’s stopper, Dean Gerken could only push away Paul Mullin’s angled effort.

However, Callum Harriott’s effort deflected off Taylor after Cohen Bramall had fashioned an opening to earn a share of the spoils – Colchester remains in twelfth place.

Colchester United return to Sky Bet League Two action on Saturday, January 23 when they take on Morecambe at the Mazuma Stadium (3pm).
