Forest Green Rovers 3-0 Colchester United
Interim boss, Wayne Brown must be wondering what he has left himself in for after witnessing out of sorts Colchester United slip to defeat against ten-man Forest Green Rovers.
The U’s are now without a win in fourteen matches and sit just seven points above the Sky Bet League Two dropzone. Indeed, there seems very little evidence of upward movement from the North-Essex outfit.
Jamille Matt bundled the home side ahead midway through the opening period and he fired his, and Rovers’ second six-minutes later to all but kill the contest.
Forest Green were reduced to ten min in first-half stoppage-time when Ebou Adams was given his marching orders following a crude challenge on Josh Doherty. But it made little difference to the outcome. Udoka Godwin-Malife caused confusion – the ball appearing to go in off Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu to complete a miserable afternoon for the U’s.
To compund their issues further, goalkeeper Dean Gerken – making his 200th apperance for the U’s – limped out of the action at half-time – replaced by Shamal George.
Colchester United return to Sky Bet League Two action on Tuesday, March 2 when Carlisle United visit the JobServe Community Stadium (7pm).
