Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – Premier League – Saturday 5:30pm

Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool – Preview:

Jan Vertonghen remained positive ahead of Spurs’ huge Premier League clash with unbeaten leader, Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The North Londoners face a stiff test against Jurgen Klopp’s men, who recently lifted the World Club Championship, a competition the Merseysiders qualified for after beating Spurs by two goals to ni in last seasons UEFA Champions League final, staged in Madrid.

Indeed, it has been a tough period for Tottenham, with the ‘Mourinho honeymoon period’ most definitely over. An FA Cup draw at Championship Middlesbrough superseded a frustrating run which has seen the Lilywhite pick up one Premier League victory from their previous four outings.

Nevertheless, the Belgian defender insisted there was plenty to be optimistic about as Spurs continued to battle on three fronts.

“It’s a tough spell, that’s true, but the most important thing is that we have confidence in ourselves, the manager and everyone around the Club to get back to winning ways. I feel all the ingredients are here,” he told www.tottenhamhotspur.com

“In my career, I’ve known ups and downs… look, we haven’t won in our last three games, but I don’t want to have the conversation that we’re down, I still feel we have everything to play for.

“The top four is in sight, we’re in the next round of the Champions League and everything is still to play for in the FA Cup, so at the end of the day, nothing major, and we push on.”

Nevertheless, Tottenham’s task is made all the more difficult what with Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko, Hugo Lloris Tanguy Ndombele, Ben Davies, Hugo and Danny Rose.
