Manchester City v Arsenal – Preview:
Arsenal put their recent unbeaten Premier League sequence on the line when they travel to the Etihad Stadium to face a wounded Manchester City side on Wednesday evening.
Arsenal were unconvincing but still managed to plunder the points against struggling West ham United last time out. Meanwhile, City – whose title defence is in tatters – were on the wrong end of a 2-0 derby defeat at Manchester United.
Having taken the Gunners hot seat after serving his apprenticeship working under Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, hoped his inside knowledge of having recently worked at City could help provide their downfall.
“It gives me a very clear idea what they’re trying to do, what they’ll be looking to do, something different to be able to stop that and create the issues I think we can create for them,” the Spaniard explained.
“That has to happen on the day when they are at their best. I know what they are capable of doing, the variation they have.
“At the end of the day, it is about the performance of the players on the pitch.”
Arteta confirmed that both Cedric Soares and Shkodran Mustafi should be available for the trip to the North-West, adding: “I think they will be available to play. Hopefully, everyone will be able to train tomorrow and we’ll pick the best players we can.”
