Despite their UEFA Europa League exit, the Gunners chief has overseen a revival at the Emirates, carrying the North Londoners within touching distance of the top four.

The Spaniard was fully aware of the threat posed by a West Ham side boosted by last weekend’s 3-1 win over Southampton. He was also respectful of the job David Moyes is doing across the capital 

“They caused a lot of problems for big teams. I worked with David for seven years and I know how structured he will be,” Arteta explained.

“The thing I admire the most is how he treated people and built a culture at the club. I spoke with him a few times. He’s always been really supportive.”
