Vital victories for Chelmsford and Braintree

Non-league round-up

Vanarama National League South

Chelmsford City and Braintree Town recorded important Vanarama National League South victories, pulling them clear of the relegation zone.

The Clarets produced their best performance of the campaign to inflict a first defeat upon title-chasing St Albans City at Clarence Park.

First-half goals from Charlie Sheringham and Adam Morgan secured a 2-0 success for Robbie Simpson’s charges – they move up to fourteenth place as a result.

Braintree moved off the bottom following an impressive 2-1 win over Dartford at Cressing Road. Percy Kiangebeni gave the home side the lead midway through the opening period, then Taofiqol Omowewe doubled their advantage just after the hour mark.

Former Chelmsford City man, Chris Dickson, pulled one back from the penalty spot for the Darts. But the Iron were not to be denied their third win of the campaign, lifting them to nineteenth place.

Billericay Town boss, Kevin Watson has made his first signing since taking charge at New Lodge, bringing in former Yeovil Town goalkeeper, Harry Palmer.

The Chelmsford-born shot-stopper links up with the Blues having previously gleaned experience with Ebbsfleet United, Dorking, Canvey Island, Lewes and Haringey Borough.

Concord Rangers have extended the loans of Ashley Charles, Lewis Simper and Adam Przybek.

Midfielder Charles linked up with the Beach Boys from Wealdstone, while Simper – who netted the only goal of the game in Concord’s recent victory at Billericay – came in from Sky Bet League Two side, Cambridge United. Goalkeeper, Przybek, was borrowed from Ipswich Town – the 20-year-old helping secure Concord’s first league clean sheet of the season during the victory at New Lodge.

Dagenham & Redbridge have confirmed the departure of Jaden Brissett.

The 19-year-old winger leaves the Chigwell Construction Stadium following the conclusion of his contract. The player made two appearances for the Daggers after initially penning a short-tern contact back in October.
