Wakering Walking Football Club’s over 50s made a solid start to their Essex walking Football League season by recording two victories and a draw following the opening round of fixtures, staged at Chelmsford City’s Melbourne Park.
The villagers brushed aside Leyton Orient Reds by two unanswered goals in their opening match Kevin Bantin with a brace for the winners.
Another controlled and cultured performance was enough to see off Little Oakley by the same margin. Bantin was again twice on target. The performance underlined by slick passing culminating in well-crafted goals.
Wakering made changes for their final game against Leyton Orient Whites. Several of the clubs England players were heading off on international duty at the conclusion. Despite pressing, Wakering had to be content with a goalless draw, leaving them in third place ahead of the next round of matches.
