As lockdown restrictions continue to ease and life returns to something close to normality, fitness and mental wellbeing has become a hot top amongst people looking to get into shape and rekindle the social aspects of life which have been affected over the past fourteen months.
Garon Park, Southend once again provides a suitable solution with their popular weekly Walk & Workout events. Thorpe Bay-based Jackie Sirdifield, who coaches the sessions, takes up the story.
“We hold the sessions adjacent to the Garon Park Cricket Ground every Saturday between 9:30 and 10:30am,” Jackie told Yellow Sport.
“Walk and Workout helps to increase your cardio fitness with varying walking paces, improve your muscle tone with our strengthening exercises and finishes with some stretches.
“Previously, I had gleaned experience at running similar sessions elsewhere. The opportunity to work independently and use the terrific facilities at Garon Park was an advantage. The sessions are very popular and are suitable for all ages and fitness levels, everyone is welcome.”
Jackie added: “With people getting out and about in mind, Walk & Workout is a great opportunity to meet new friends while you exercise. Each session cost £5 and includes a hot drink. A warm welcome awaits you.”
