Lancashire: (Yet to bat)

Paul Walter captured the eye for Essex at the start of their first two-day warm-up match with Lancashire at the Cloudfm County Ground.
With match practice order of the day, Essex had reached 74/1 at lunch – Paul Walter and skipper Tom Westley gleaning valuable time in the middle – Alastair Cook the man out, caught at slip by Keaton Jennings, diving low his left, off a delivery from Saqib Mahmood for 4.
Westley (38) edged Wood into Davies’ gloves having faced 100 balls – Walter reached 42 before similarly departing, Jennings displaying a safe pair of hands to give Wood his second wicket of the day.
Feroze Khushi, Robin Das and Will Buttleman each failed to score before Cook returned for an equally frustrating stint at the crease, this time trapped lbw by Mahmood – the latter finishing the day with impressive figures of 4/15, while Wood, Hurt and Jennings each claiming two apiece for Lancashire. Play resumes on Wednesday at 11am.
