Waltham carnival on your doorstep

Waltham Forest residents can enjoy carnival from their doorsteps this year as a small troupe makes its way around the borough this Bank Holiday weekend.

Notting Hill Carnival, usually attended by around one million revellers, was cancelled in May due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As an alternative, six artists from GBCarnival will perform a carnival-style street show in four locations on Sunday and Monday afternoon (August 30-31).

The group will perform on Sunday at Chingford Hall Estate at 1pm and Stocksfield Road in Walthamstow at 3pm.

On Bank Holiday Monday, they will perform at the Beaumont Estate in Leyton at 1pm and on Cathall Road in Leytonstone at 3pm.

Residents are encouraged to join in from their doorsteps as the show passes their homes, while also keeping to social distancing rules.
