Wanstead & Snaresbrook closed in on the Premier Division summit after easing to an eight-wicket victory over fellow title contenders, Chelmsford at Overton Drive.

Eshun Kalley took 4/20, while Kishen Velani had 4/24 as the East Londoners reduced Chelmsford to 117 – Oliver Devenish keeping the visitors’ heads marginally above the water with an unbeaten 51 off 84 balls.

But Devenish’s efforts were never really going to be enough. Ben Waring trapped both Bilal Patel and Tom Simmons lbw. However, Velani’s fifty off 29 balls, ably supported by 26 from Robin Das saw Wanstead over the line inside 31 overs.
