Southend Saxons 17-41 Eton Manor
DIRECTOR OF RUGBY, Josh Ward, was left frustrated after his Southend Saxons side suffered a damaging London One North defeat to a ruthless Eton Manor side at Warners Bridge.
The Seasider’s promotion hopes were dented. Nevertheless, the Saxons chief was quick to point out that his side – on the day – were off the pace.
“I’m really disappointed with that one,” he bemoaned.
“Firstly, Eton Manor were excellent I felt and deserved everything they got, I thought Nick at 9 for them was outstanding and managed them really well.
“We started slowly but I felt we responded with some good play of our own and some good scores. It was nip and tuck for large parts of the first half, but some costly unforced errors and defensive lapses have cost us dearly today.
Ward continued: “It’s a big day in our season, a big day of learning for us.
“One thing that we will never do as a group is to give up. We’ve got some great characters in our group, the league is so tight there are sixty points to go for.
“Games are coming thick and fast, it’s exciting – we’ve just got to be more consistent for eighty minutes.
“We play Colchester next, we’ll be ready.”
